WaChat to PDF ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our service to convert WhatsApp chat exports into PDF documents.
2. Data We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. We do not store plaintext passwords.
Chat Export Files (Client Mode)
When using the free client-side plan, your WhatsApp export files are processed entirely in your browser using Web Workers. No chat content is transmitted to our servers.
Chat Export Files (Server Mode)
When using paid server-side processing, your export ZIP is uploaded to temporary cloud storage via a signed URL. The file is processed by our worker, the resulting PDF is encrypted and stored briefly, then made available for download. Files are automatically deleted after the download link expires (typically within 24 hours).
Usage Data
We collect basic usage data (export counts, job status, billing events) to operate the service and prevent abuse. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Paddle. We do not store your credit card details. We receive only a transaction confirmation and your subscription status.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the PDF conversion service
- To authenticate your account and authorise paid features
- To process billing and manage subscriptions
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- To send transactional emails (e.g. download-ready notifications)
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your chat content to train AI models.
4. Data Retention
Client-mode exports: Never stored. All processing happens in your browser and nothing is transmitted.
Server-mode uploads: Automatically deleted within 24 hours after the signed download link expires.
Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
Billing records: Retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax and accounting regulations.
5. Cookies
We use only essential cookies necessary for authentication (session tokens). We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities
- Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a structured format)
7. Security
Server-processed PDFs are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Uploads use signed, time-limited URLs. All connections are encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
